Hope all of you had a happy Kwanzaa! "Kwanzaa greetings are to reinforce awareness of and commitment to the Seven Principles. It is: "Habari gani?" and the answer is each of the principles for each of the days of Kwanzaa, i.e., "Umoja", on the first day, "Kujichagulia", on the second day and so on. At NAACP tribe we pay tribute to Rosa Parks.
(From africawithin.com) -- "On December 1, 1955, Rosa Lee Parks (nee McCauley; born 1913) refused to relinquish her seat to a white passenger on a racially segregated Montgomery, Alabama bus. She was arrested and fined but her action led to a successful boycott of the Montgomery buses by African American riders."
"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." Muhammed AliāTime magazine (1978)
NAACP tribe is not affiliated with the national organization in any way. We attempt to work alongside them, in our purpose, and in a supportive fashion. Let's help the survivors of Katrina by contacting our congresspeople and giving time and money to supportive orgs -- This is a great place to discuss culture, politics and other concerns to African Americans, or if you have an interest in African American culture, minorities, social issues, prejudice and discrimination, be sure to join us and discuss the topics at hand.
Join the effort to help hurricane survivors in New Orleans - let your Congresspeople know how you feel about the slow response and what that means to black people, by visiting Congress.org online and sending them an email or making a phone call - also, be certain to support the Red Cross and other relief efforts in Louisiana. Many local and national churches, temples and mosques are also part of the effort.
Let's all keep informed during this time of tragedy.
"We need leaders -- neither saints nor sparking TV personalities -- who can situate themselves within a larger historical narrative of this country and our world, who can grasp the complex dynamics of our peoplehood and imagine a future grounded in the best of our past, yet who are attuned to the frightening obstacles that now perplex us."
Cornel West
Tulsa, Oklahoma 1953-
please also visit the REAL NAACP online - www.naacp.org -- and consider joining them if you've not already!

"People don't pay much attention to you when you are second best. I wanted to see what it felt like to be number one." Florence Griffith Joyner
